As I try to come up with a concept for my concentration, I find myself reflecting on past sketches in my sketchbook. I find that many of these sketches deal with the ideas of motion, action, and reaction. I think it will be interesting to continue sketching to find exactly what I am trying to get across with my ideas. To see my thoughts, please check out my Concepts Page.
Hey everyone! In Printmaking Class, I recently made my first etching, which was one of my first experiences with printmaking in general. This piece is going to be a detailed description of my process.
The proccess was overall very time consuming, but I believe it was worth it for my final prints. I spent nearly two weeks with countless studio hours working on my prints. Though I had lots of frustration, I never lost hope that the project would be worth it. Overall, etching was the perfect medium for sharing my images with the world.Hey everyone! Sorry I have not posted in a while. Camp has been super busy. Last night I was awake until 3 am working on a project! However, do not fret, for I have still been sketching. So far, one of my most memorable experiences has been visiting the High Museum of Art.When I visited they had a special exhibit on Winnie the Pooh, which featured lots of the original artwork and concept art for the books!Following Winnie The Pooh, I continued to look around the museum and sketch for a bit.Overall, the museum trip was very fun and super inspiring. If anyone is ever in Atlanta, I highly recommend visiting. Though it was closed this time, the museum typically has a large permanent collection of Warhols on display, which I saw last time. Hope everyone is having a great Summer!Hey everyone! So today was my first day of classes at my SCAD precollege program. Honestly, it was kind of tough. Wake up call was at 6:30 and that is not my ideal wake up time. My first class was textiles where we took a pre-test which was really discouraging. However, the class as whole seemed interesting. Then I had printmaking, which was amazing. We started by making a print by covering plexiglass in an oily ink and then redacting that ink with a solvent. We then took prints from the plexiglass.I also took a ghost print of my piece, which I think turned out better than the initial print. I will post that print later. Overall, it was a great first day. Tonight I completed a fabric-swatch kit and continued developing my self-portrait sketches.Today was the first day of my five-week pre-college program at SCAD Atlanta. There were no actual classes today; instead the focus was icebreakers and getting settled. I made a few friends, and actually talked to some people. I spent some time sketching some fellow students at dinner, adding on to a sketchbook page I had started at the mall the other day.Tonight, after curfew, I completed a pre-course assignment for my print making class. The assignment was to develop concepts for a self-portrait dealing with an inanimate object. I ended up choosing a KatVonD perfume bottle as my object and began sketching. It was a good way to calm down after such an overwhelming day. It was odd though, because I have never really drawn self-portraits before. I am always drawing other people. My sketches are really rough but they were fun to make. I am looking forward to tomorrow. I have my printmaking and textile classes. I also think I am going to run by the art supply store and pick up some things. I have a lot of sketches from my recent London trip that I will post soon. Bye! |
